Patti-Jean Cousens

Patti-Jean is, quite simply, a highly gifted, and honest singer/entertainer.

Her vocal style has evolved into a supple and rich alto, that contains elements of urban blues and jazz singers of the 1920s -1940s, laced with flavors of Judy Garland, Dinah Washington, and Billie Holiday.

Patti-Jean's presentation combines articulate and soulful vocals with eye-popping moves; sometimes with the energy of a naughty Tina Turner, or the dramatics of Bob Fosse.

Weaned on Gregorian chant, hymns, madrigals and High School choir in Gardiner, Maine, Patti-Jean began her professional career while associated with a USO touring group at the University of Maine at Farmington. Her director, the late Jerry Owens, recognized her innate abilities, turned the choreographing duties over to her, and frequently featured her center-stage.

Following college, Patti-Jean took to the “road.” She fronted pop and show groups from Lake Tahoe to Miami.  This work led to the incorporation of hand percussion and keyboard instruments, in a natural extension of her considerable rhythmic abilities.

The years spent honing her craft have resulted in a compelling stage presence.  Audiences are treated to a beautifully rendered vocal repertoire of blues, swing, Latin, pop, jazz, and torch ballads, while being enfolded in the warmth of Patti-Jean’s passion for people and entertaining.
